How does it work out who owes whom?
It totals what each person paid versus their fair share, then computes each person’s balance. People who paid less transfer money to people who paid more, arranged to minimize the number of payments — so a group of five might settle up with just two or three transfers.
Can expenses be split unevenly?
Yes. An expense can be shared by everyone or only by the people involved — someone who skipped the dinner isn’t charged for it. Assign each expense to the participants it actually covers and the balances adjust accordingly.
Is this a good alternative to Splitwise?
