How do I write Morse code so it decodes correctly?

Does Morse code have lowercase letters or punctuation?
Morse has no case — A and a share the same code, so decoded text comes out in one case. Common punctuation like periods, commas and question marks have codes and are supported; characters without a Morse equivalent are skipped.
What is the difference between a dot and a dash in timing?
In real transmission, a dash lasts three times as long as a dot, letters are separated by a three-dot gap and words by seven. As text, that timing is written using spaces between letters and slashes between words.
