Why is my GIF so huge?
GIF is a very old, inefficient format — it stores every frame with limited compression, so file sizes grow fast. A few seconds of GIF can be bigger than a minute of MP4. Keep clips short, reduce the width, and lower the frame rate to shrink the file; for sharing where GIF is not required, a short MP4 is dramatically smaller.
What are the best settings for quality versus size?
For most clips, 10–15 fps and a width of 480px is a good balance — motion still looks smooth and the file stays manageable. Go up to 20+ fps and larger widths only when smoothness really matters, and expect the size to climb quickly.
Why is there a 30-second limit?
Because of how inefficient the GIF format is, longer clips produce enormous files that are slow to generate, share and load. Thirty seconds already yields large GIFs at typical settings — if you need more, export multiple shorter clips.
